What is Wild Woman Retreat?

Wild Woman Retreat was created to serve the need for a community of supportive women who are awakening to their authentic selves, by providing a year-round program of women-only events. Our vision is to create a worldwide community of women committed to healing – first themselves, then their loved ones, then the world.

The retreats are specifically catered to women who are waking up, finding their authentic selves under all the masks and covers our society compels us to adopt for survival, and throwing off those masks once and for all. We come together to study the wisdom of the feminine archetype and share our stories.

What we do is deep, and we are much more than a club. We are a community of women committed to fully supporting one another in our unique spiritual journeys to authentic and integrated self-expression.

“So, let us push on now, and remember ourselves back to the wild soul. Let us sing her flesh back onto our bones. Shed any false coats we have been given. Don the true coat of powerful instinct and knowing…Without us, Wild Woman dies. Without Wild Woman, we die…For true life, both must live.” – Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Women Who Run with the Wolves

Our Values

We value women-only spaces for their ability to heal, renew, and transform women.

We value and provide safe spaces for natural expressions of the wild, authentic self through dance, art, music, and story.

We value solidarity with and respect for all women regardless of age, color, creed, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

We value and create a sacred, trusting sisterhood where we can reflect to one another the relationship we are cultivating with ourselves.

We value the confidentiality and ceremony of our sacred Wild Woman Retreat sharing circles.

We value the power of story to change not only ourselves but also the world around us.

We value our woman-ness. We value our wildness.

“You were wild once. Don’t let them tame you.” – Isadora Duncan

Meet the Founders

Amy Cherie Copeland

Amy Cherie Copeland

The original mind behind Wild Woman Retreat, Amy Cherie Copeland was inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estes’ influential Women Who Run With the Wolves to work on resolving her personal traumas, beginning with the mother wound, in community with other like-minded women. The results of that first retreat in March of 2014 were phenomenal, and she knew the combination of nature, nurturing activities, safe space, and the chance to share our stories was a winning one.

From the age of five – when to the dismay of her grandparents, aunts, and uncles, she taught her older cousins the word “vagina”—the precocious Amy Cherie has been a teacher, coach, and writer with a keen sense of the power words carry. She honed her skills in the corporate world for nearly 20 years, where she developed marketable expertise in consulting, business writing, call center operations, corporate training, human resources, and project management. After leaving her corporate career, Amy Cherie blossomed into an accomplished writer who has published in Donna Hicken’s The Good Fight (2004), written marketing copy and web content for the United Way, co-written and helped produce an award-winning PSA/fundraising video for Hubbard House, and occasionally blogs and writes poetry.

Amy Cherie is a lifetime resident of Jacksonville and has embraced the historic Riverside community as her home for the past 12 years. She works part-time as an Academic Writing Tutor at Florida State College at Jacksonville, and also freelances as a writing coach for awakening writers and English language learners. She specializes in teaching others to empower themselves through the magic of words. With intuition and insight, Amy Cherie guides her clients to trust the process and find their authentic voices for self-expression.

Amy Hilton

Amy HiltonCo-founder Amy Hilton, a shamanic healer and guide, has spent her journey on the Spiral Path gathering a set of tools which she uses to build bridges between the dualities of existence. These tools include creativity, leadership, organization, psychology, divination, and healing. Blending the modern with the ancient, she employs stones, herbs and plants, tarot, dice, and channeling in her work. She believes that everyone has a unique path that they have the opportunity, not merely to walk, but to help create by exercising their free will. Amy is passionate about helping others see the magic of the stories that we bring into our lives, and she employs her healing skills with the specific goal of guiding others toward their own self-healing, showing them that they possess the ability to facilitate their own wholeness.

Amy Hilton possesses a strong elder-sister energy that she uses to simultaneously nurture and encourage growth in others, and has stood as a pillar in her community for many years. She currently resides in Northeast Florida, where she holds frequent consultations from The Garden at the Center of the Universe.

Katherine Roberts

Katherine Roberts

Co-founder Katherine Roberts is a metaphysician and spiritual coach centered on self-liberation and spiritual awakening. She holds degrees in metaphysical sciences and is an ordained minister with the non-denominational Wisdom of the Heart Church. Her focus is on supporting others in achieving their highest potential: liberation of the true Self and ultimate realization of union with Source. Since 2009, she’s been using her skills to guide others toward that end. With a holistic approach to establishing spiritual health in her clients, she gently assists them in their process of peeling themselves like onions and finally setting themselves free.

Originally hailing from rural Alaska, Katherine currently resides in the woods of rural Florida with her two sons, ten chickens, and one cat (Huxley-the-Eternal-Kitten). In addition to her spiritual work, she is the vice president and CFO of Tritone Productions, LLC, and is a weekly hospice and vigil volunteer with Haven Hospice. She believes in the value of having pockets, walking barefoot, and blowing bubbles.
